The protected areas network is dated back since 1964 where the first mission was conducted. Despite the continuous update for the protected areas network, but a detailed and comprehensive review is needed especially with the increasing threats and changes that have happened to population structure in Jordan. Thus, a country assessment of key biodiversity and agro-biodiversity areas should be developed and adopted nationally. In addition, the national protected areas network should be reviewed where terrestrial protected areas should cover 2% of the total area of the country at least and 10% of the marine protected areas.
