By 2020, national strategies and action plans for marine species at risk developed and implemented.
Very limited knowledge exists at Aqaba in means of major groups of species such as corals (soft and hard). In addition, the available knowledge about other groups such as fishes, algae and seagrasses are out-of-date and an update have to be performed. Therefore, it is critical to establish a checklist of species at Aqaba to publish the IUCN red list assessment. This will support conservation of threatened species and aid the decision making process.
